FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Call for local Orange County artists at Prado West development in Dana Point, CA.
Artists are encouraged to apply for two mural opportunities by emailing a portfolio link to Bryan Snyder before the Friday, July 28 at 5 p.m. deadline.
July 12, 2023 – Dana Point – Prado West development in Dana Point will be opening up a public Call for Artists in search of two Orange County based muralists. Each chosen artist will paint roughly 8′ x 12′ mural on wood to be displayed within the 109 unit apartment community. Wood panels to be provided.
All interested Orange County based artists are encouraged to email a portfolio link to project curator Bryan Snyder of Snyder Art and Design: theartist@snyderartdesign.com.
Finalists will receive a $250 design stipend. The two project awardees will receive $6,000 upon completed mural. Murals to be completed in September 2023.
As of date, four murals have been installed in Prado West’s indoor/outdoor ground floor corridors by Carly Ealey, Taylor Gallegos, Sean Dominguez and Skye Walker. Muralist Drew Merritt has also painted a large-scale mural visible from Del Prado Avenue.
This public art initiative is funded by Dana Point’s Art in Public Places program which earmarks one-half percent of a total development construction cost to public art. Raintree Partners, the developer of Prado West, feels strongly that incorporating local art and promoting creativity strengthens the culture of our community. The mural themes revolve around Dana Point history and what makes it a special place.
Upon completion of the next round of murals, Raintree Partners plans to donate two murals, Old Killer Dana by Sean Dominquez, and Migration by Skye Walker, to the Dana Point Community Center to enhance a corridor visitors walk through upon arriving.
